Promoting positive
development
in Whistler’s
children, youth
& young adults.
CTC is a research based prevention process that involves the community to
promote positive development in Whistler’s children, youth and young adults.
We are working to do this through evidence-based surveys, which provide us
with areas we need to focus on.

Communities That Care Whistler bases its programming on the Risk and Protective Factors that are highlighted by our surveys of Whistler’s school-aged children in Grades 6 – 12. These survey are completed every three to four years to ensure we are aware of emerging trend. The selected speakers and workshops are researched to ensure they are supported evidence based programming or data.
Communities That Care Whistler conducts a Youth Survey of Whistler’s school aged children from Grades 6 – 12 every three or four years to ensure that we are aware of emerging trends. Our data is used to create and support events and programs offered to the Whistler community and by community social agencies to support families on the issues that are highlighted in the survey data. These surveys are anonymous and the data is screened to ensure that sample sizes do not reveal personal information. Our latest survey was completed in September 2017 and the report will be out very soon.
Communities that Care Whistler is based on a North American community social action organization which has developed a research based prevention process that engages the community in promoting the positive development of young people. Our board has community and provincial representation from education, health, recreational, social and law enforcement professionals as well as community volunteers
As a parent and as a Trustee of the Sea to Sky school district I appreciate the variety of opportunities for learning provided by the Whistler chapter of Communities That Care. This organization provides people with constructive opportunities to grow knowledge in areas that are important to families and individuals alike. I would encourage participation in their programming.
